Person‑centred Counselling & Psychotherapy|In Lymington, Hampshire and Online.

You’re in the right place to pause and explore.

I’m Anna Shears, a Person‑centred Psychotherapist, offering a calm and compassionate space to support you through times of change, uncertainty, or emotional difficulty.

Through my training and clinical experience, I’ve worked alongside people navigating a wide range of life experiences — from feeling disconnected or overwhelmed, to moving through loss, grief, and significant transitions.

I believe that each of us has an inner sense of direction — even when it feels lost or hard to hear. Whether we meet online or in person, our work together will be shaped around you. We’ll go at your pace, starting where you are, and exploring what feels most important to you.

Is this you?

There may not be a single reason you’re here — just a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right.

You might be:

  • Feeling anxious, stuck, or emotionally overwhelmed

  • Grieving the loss of a loved one or a life chapter

  • Struggling with low self-esteem or self-worth

  • Going through a difficult life transition or relationship change

  • Exploring your identity, purpose, or direction

  • Wanting a space to be heard without judgement or pressure

Together, we can explore what’s going on beneath the surface, helping you gain insight, clarity, and a deeper connection with yourself.

How counselling can help:

Therapy can be a place to:

  • Feel truly heard — without judgement or pressure

  • Explore what’s going on beneath the surface

  • Reconnect with your own needs, values and voice

  • Make sense of loss or change

  • Develop greater compassion for yourself

Therapy isn’t about being fixed or told what to do, but about creating the conditions where you can begin to reconnect with yourself, make sense of your experience, and find your own way forward.

Meet Anna

I’m Anna Shears, a fully qualified and insured Person-centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, registered with the BACP.

I work with people who are navigating emotional difficulty, significant life changes, or simply a feeling of being disconnected from themselves.

Here, you won’t find quick fixes or instructed solutions. What I offer is something deeper: a calm, consistent, relational space where you can begin to understand what’s going on inside you — at your pace, in your own way.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Therapy is a space to begin where you are.

More about me

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,

then I can change.”

— Dr. Carl Rogers, 'On Becoming a Person'

  • Person-centred counselling is an empathetic, supportive form of therapy that focuses entirely on you as an individual – your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

But what truly makes it effective is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. The heart of this approach is creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. It's through this safe, trusting connection that healing and personal growth can take place.

  • Sessions are a space for you to speak freely, and be met with care. You don’t need to have it all figured out — we start wherever you are.

While I won’t direct or analyse you, I do bring experience, attentiveness, and gentle curiosity to help us explore what’s going on beneath the surface. I’ll listen closely, reflect thoughtfully, and support you to make sense of what matters to you.

It’s not about fixing — it’s about understanding, together.

Each session is 50 minutes long and depending on your needs, I offer both focused short-term work and longer ongoing work.

  • There’s no set number — it depends on what you’d like to explore. Some people come for a short period of support; others choose to work together over a longer time. If you’d like to discuss this, please feel free to get in touch: anna@annashearscounselling.com
